HONORARY CHAIRS:
DONNIE HAMMOND   .    PAT CLARKE   .   JIM PAYNE

SPECIAL GUEST:
MARY BRYAN
Donnie Hammond, Honorary Co-Chairman
Donnie Hammond’s golf journey began in Westminster, Maryland when at age 13 Donnie’s father introduced him to the game. "Dad would take me to a nine hole course in Westminster, Maryland and then watch the Baltimore Colts practice. I was hooked after my first few solid shots."

He turned professional in 1979 and he jokes that professional golf was a way to avoid getting a "real job." In 1982, Donnie won the qualifying school by 14 shots, a record that still stands today. The highlight of Donnie's career came when he won the Bob Hope Classic in 1986. "When that putt went in, it fulfilled a life long dream to win on the PGA Tour." Nearly thirty years later, Donnie still makes his living in golf.

Donnie is proud of his new connection with Special Olympics and understands the impact sports can have on the lives of Special Olympics athletes: "It is pretty clear that sport leads you in good directions; you are developing eye hand coordination and physical fitness, it provides camaraderie, and sport teaches self confidence. Special Olympics is important because it provides the opportunity to people with intellectual disabilities to receive these benefits."

Pat Clarke, Honorary Co-Chairman
A longtime supporter of Special Olympics Florida, Pat Clarke is the Sports Director of WESH News Channel 2 (Orlando). His duties include sports reporting and anchoring the early evening and 11 p.m. sports segments. He's been a fixture in Central Florida sportscasting for 20 years, including 13 years as sports director at WFTV and several years at Sunshine Network.

The two-time Emmy Award winner also served as morning drive co-host on 740 The Team's "Clarke & Davis Show" from 2000-2002. The Iowa native has also authored one book, "When Irish Eyes Smiled," a tribute to his late father.
Jim Payne, Honorary Co-Chairman
WESH NewsChannel 2's Jim Payne is an award-winning journalist with roots in Wisconsin. Jim received a prestigious Edward R. Murrow award for his work on the WESH-TV documentary "Code Blue: Crisis in the E.R," and two Emmys for special event coverage in 2001.

Jim has also earned numerous awards from the Associated Press and the Radio and TV News Directors Association, and he received the North Carolina Governor's Award for Community Service.

He was born in Green Bay, WI, and attended Purdue University, earning a bachelor's degree in communications. When he's not writing and delivering the news, Jim enjoys running, weight training, hockey, golf and spending time with his wife, Sharon. And one of his biggest challenges is keeping up with his sons, Jimmy and Michael.

Additionally, Jim serves on the Special Olympics Florida Board of Directors.

Mary Bryan, Special Guest
Mary Bryan played full time on the LPGA tour from 1971-1984 and currently plays part-time on the LPGA Senior Tour. Mary’s golf expertise has been utilized for over 300 television broadcasts as a commentator for NBC, ABC, ESPN, the Golf Channel and CBS, where she currently announces both LPGA and PGA events. She is also a sought-after golf clinician throughout the world. Players in the Special Olympics Florida Golf Classic will have the chance to tee off with Mary on Hole #12!
