Over 204 golfers who took to the links for Central Florida’s premier charity golf event, The Ninth Annual - Special Olympics Florida Golf Classic held at the beautiful Heathrow Country Club on Monday, October 10, 2005.

Golfers had their choice of morning or afternoon shotgun starts and competed in a Stableford System of scoring, for awards and prizes. Players enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner at the exclusive Heathrow Country Club; and all participants received an exclusive tournament Nike goodie bag.

On course contests and raffles were held and all paid participants were eligible for the two Grand Prize Drawings: the first was a Nike “Dream Package” of Nike golf products ranging from apparel to gear. The second prize was a trip for two to the Bahamas.

Golfers got to take a best ball challenge on two separate holes with LPGA pros Mary Bryan and Barb Mucha.

After a day of golf and camaraderie, tournament participants returned to the Heathrow Country Club for a gourmet feast, provided by the Heathrow Country Club Catering staff and Gator’s Dockside Restaurants.

Wrapping up the day’s activities were a silent auction and a short program, hosted by WESH News Channel 2’s Sports Director Pat Clarke and WESH News Channel 2 Anchor Jim Payne. The night concluded with an exciting live auction and announcement of the on-course prize winners and overall tournament winners.
